Scottsdale Unified board member hosts a private event that turned into an underage drinking party

Scottsdale Unified School District Board Member Matt Pittinsky was reportedly hosting a private event at his home that suddenly turned into a wild drinking party.

Pittinsky told Arizona’s Family that “hundreds of kids descended onto his property after word of his son’s birthday party was spread all over social media.” Arizona’s Family cited a police report dated November 7, 2025, indicating the party took place two weeks before the news made headlines.

Watch the report below.

The parent group Scottsdale Unites for Educational Integrity posted about the incident on Twitter, stating,

“An ambulance took one teenager who had a blood alcohol level of 0.30% from the scene…A responding office estimated at least 500 young people were at the Pittinsky home.”

Reports say Pittinsky—who allowed his son to invite friends to the private birthday party—hired security to confiscate alcohol before the teens entered his home. The responding officer administered breathalyzer tests and looked after the intoxicated minor until a Phoenix ambulance arrived.

Pittinsky has denied supplying alcohol to minors.

This story will be updated as information becomes available.

In unrelated news, on November 19, a Scottsdale Unified employee was arrested for possessing child pornography. Arizona’s Family reported that sixth-grade language arts teacher Michael Gill was caught with multiple sexualized images of children around the same age as his students.

A statement from the district was published by Arizona’s Family:

“Please know that the safety and well-being of our students is our top priority. All SUSD employees, this one included, undergo an extensive background check and possess a valid fingerprint clearance card before working with our students.”

Gill was employed by Cocopah Middle School at the time of his arrest. The district stated that it “doesn’t believe any students were involved” in any incidents with Gill on school grounds.
